Essays on sexuality

Dear pupils and colleagues,
to finish our project on sexuality, I've asked the pupils of the 8th grade to write an essay on what we have been discussing and learning about this topic. Here are some essays that made me very proud. We shouldn't forget that we are referring to 12th, 13th and 14th- year-old kids.

Happy sexuality

A happy sexuality helps having a good and long life.
The information about a healthy sexuality has been provided to us since we were little kids. However, not everyone plays by the same rules. Change is in front of our eyes but sometimes we don't want to see it.
People discriminate others just because they don't have the same orientation. They are capable of kicking out their own kids because they love someone of the same sex.
Some people establish differences between man and woman  and transmit the idea that women are less able than men.
People don't always respect their bodies or themselves. They live a life of  risk behaviours,  full of disease and pain  because they don't protect themselves.
To have a healthy life, we need a healthy sexuality and the respect of the others and of ourselves.

A happy sexuality is importanty for ourselves. We need to respect our body.
Sometimes people wish to be as thin and tall as a model. But kids, who are very short or very tall have just as many friends as kids who are of average height.
We need to protect ourselves and to accept different sexual orientations. We should also defend sexual equality.
We should talk with our families about sexuality.

To be happy we need to like ourselves and our body.
Growing up can be hard because there are kids that don't accept their bodies or the way they look. They wish to be thin and tall as a model.
Puberty doesn't happen at the same time for every kid, so kids change at different rhythms.
To improve our life quality, we have to have a healthy and happy sexuality and accept our body the way it is: thin or fat, tall or short.

Joana Natário, 8th D

Having a happy sexuality makes us feel happier.
It is important to defend sexual equality because we have the same rights and we are all equal. We should accept different sexual orientations.
We should protect ourselves, respect our body and get information about sexuality. We should talk to well informed people because our body is very important.
We should also eliminate risk behaviours and promote our feelings.

Andreia Roberto, 8th D
